Name Ideas
I've developed ideas of what my brand could be called to see if it's right for the job. I looked at words that is related to the them that I want, which is like an urban/vintage style; It's unto date and if doesn't go out of fashion. I then realised that I need more of a meaning as I want to creat an ethical brand that shows meaning to the environment. What is the point of making a brand if the brand name doesn't attract the right target audience you're looking for? I spoke to my tutor about my design ideas, and he said the name should be short and snap, with the right slogan that can inspire many youngsters to buy my clothing line. Also, he said that the name needs to link in with the fact that I want to be Ethical and recycle old clothing to make new. It's important to create something that no one could take away from me.
We discussed new ideas, starting with who the brands actually for and from then we came up with ideas that link with the word "group". We used a thesaurus to think of the many ways we could name the brand. Firstly, my tutor said "Herd" and that I could introduce a bulls horns in the word, but there I thought I didn't really want my brand to look like animal things so we moved on to Merge. We then looked at what the streamline could be and the phrase 'merge together' came along. Then he realised that 'together' could be good to use as my logo name as it's simple, but it means a lot; 'Together we can ... we will etc'. Again, I wanted it to be short and snappy, but I realised that he was right. It shows a lot more meaning than what I/we thought of and it can promote awareness whilst promoting. I will look at further ideas to make the logo 'together' a real thing. I will develop designs and then choose a font that would look appropriate for the typeface.
