Evaluation

For the overall project, I think it went really well and I'm actually quite pleased with the final outcome. I finished on time and to manage my time, I used a blog to help me recognise where I would be up to every week and I made a plan for what to do every day till the dead line. To be honest, I don't think I would finish in time if I didn't do some work at home through the weekends or when we had our holidays. In my opinion, I'm very happy with the outcome of my experiments, mock ups and my online shop, but I think I could've done a better job with my little clip and maybe my catalogue; then again the catalogue turned out better than I actually thought so I can't really say much about that because I'm pleased with it too. I feel like I could've made more experimentation for my work so then I would have a wider range of designs to choose from and maybe experiment further with the mock ups to have more items.

Originally, I did think of creating posters, but now-a-days it's all about online and social media so I didn't really bother with that bit, but I did create all of the things that I wanted to design. Through out the project, I feel like my skills have progressed further because I've developed more knowledge with Photoshop and the motion part of it to create an animation. I've illustrated some designs when using Illustrator and instead of using InDesign for my catalogue pages, I used Photoshop and designed them that way to create a PDF instead to add to the website I used to print the pages out. The experience of making the catalogue was interesting; I had good days and bad days with it. At the start, they were mainly bad days with how to layer the designs and what to actually do. However near the end I found that the experience was much better once I knew what I was doing and of course it's important to know if you enjoy what you're doing and what you don't. Overall, I feel like the experience was different to what I usually do, but I think it was worth doing. Lastly, I've developed further Photography skills, logo development, the layout of a design and constructing a designs as well. With my skills, I think I've come far from when I started and to be honest my favourite part of it all was taking my imagery and illustrating my own designs and making them better and better in each project.

Further more, my favourite artists to experiment with was Milton Glaser and Nadia Flowers. The reason I enjoyed experimenting with Milton Glaser's work is that I liked the fact that I could use my primary imagery and outline the variety of things to create an unusual silhouetteAlso, the reason I enjoyed experimenting with the Nadia Flowers experimentation is that I felt free drawing my own creations instead of copying some else's; I know it's not like copying when creating my own designs, but I felt independent doing my own thing with out using a software to help me do what I need to do. Both of the artists inspired me to create upbeat and unique pieces of work, and by looking at their designs, they seem pleasing to the eye and that's what I wanted. For one of my artist experimentations, I struggled with Jean Jullien experiments. I was struggling and they didn't look good to look at, but I did think my idea for the experiments was good because I wanted to design imagery from different sayings, like '2 peas in a pod'. I did create 2 designs for that experiment, but I've learnt something new that if I don't enjoy designing something from the start, find something new and to over come this problem, I just made other experiments for me to use instead. Also, at the beginning of creating the catalogue, I struggled with what to do for it and how to layout the designs. At first I used magazine layouts from google to be inspired, but all that was going was stressing me out so instead, I made a catalogue about what my brand does to help the community and by the end of it, I was really pleased with the final outcome. It seemed simple, but it was professional and it was easy to understand.

To create the project, I made sure I used the design cycle. Of course I did my research to help me to get to the development, I planned what I wanted, I developed and evaluated all the way through and with out the design cycle, I wouldn't know where to start and what to look for. I think in this project I have learnt how to create an ethical brand and show different sides from professional to urban. I feel my skills have developed further and that I have more knowledge than I thought I had. To be honest, I think I could've created something that meant something to me, rather than creating clothes. I do love designing clothes etc, but I think I need to see what else I am capable of and what else I can create.

For my future, I wish to become a designer that people are inspired by. I want to be the person that people search for and write down who I am in their projects. I think it's important to be inspired by someone because If you wasn't, you wouldn't be able to experiment in different ways to then reach what you are made of. Designing lets me do what I want to do and be who I want to be and no matter what everyone says, I will always be a designer.

And overall, I'm really chuffed with the final outcomes and the designs, I would wear the items that I created and maybe one day I could.
