My plan was to create a catalogue for my clothes, but me and tutor spoke about what else I can do to explain and show off my brand. At first, I wanted to include the clothing items and how they're made, but the mock ups I used wouldn't look natural for the catalogue. To be honest, it was stressing me out because I just didn't know what to do so my tutor suggested to do the process of what the brand does and why. So in the end, I started thinking of ways to create the catalogue and just put the main information in about what we do.
To create this, I had some help to give me an idea of what I can create for my pages or just this page. I was inspired by the artist David Carson and wanted to create something upbeat and unique like his work. Originally, I didn't want to experiment as it didn't seem relatable to my 'Together' project, but when I was experimenting with the magazine pages, the style that he makes goes with what I have done for this page. It's not necessarily the same of course, but it has that edgy feel to it and it seems dark and grungy like his work.
It started off by using the experiment that I created in my first experiments; I was still thinking about one the the page layout that I was inspired by. Instead of making it simple, I started experimenting with shapes and how I would evolve around the shape.
I started with squares and circles etc, but it didn't look right. So I used a triangle and moved the different images around, which lead onto this. I then added the letter 'T' on the triangle and inverted them so they didn't clash against it. I then changed the opacity so the image doesn't take over the whole page because I will start adding text over it.
Furthermore, I duplicated the image, but kept the opacity high. From there, I moved them both around in different places to see what looks good and in the end, I layered the darker image over the lighter one to give a bigger impact to show the creativity and perspective.
Lastly, I wrote out my mission statement from my online shop and added a variety of things to make it more pleasing to the eye and interesting to look at. I experimented with the layout of the writing; I put it here, there and everywhere, but in the end I kept it simple and put it next to the image I designed. Overall, I am quite pleased with this design because I didn't exactly copy the layout I was inspired by, I made something intriguing and compulsive.
